6th Class Take Part in Science Blast

26th May 2025

Ms. Clifford’s 6th class had an exciting day at the EBS Science Blast in the University of Limerick on Wednesday, May 21st. Their project, titled “Ready, Steady, Chew – What Factors Affect the Longevity of Chewing Gum’s Taste?”, explored what makes chewing gum lose its flavour. They investigated four key categories: BrandFlavourPrice, and Country of Origin.

The event was bursting with energy, creativity, and curiosity as students explored a wide range of fascinating exhibits and school projects . Ms. Clifford’s class stood out — their interactive experiment was a huge hit, with over 300 children taking part in testing different gums!

The judges were impressed too — the project was highly commended and sparked lots of interest and conversation on the day. Well done to all the budding scientists in Ms. Clifford’s class — the future of science is definitely in good hands!
