Our school choir is made up of boys and girls from fourth to sixth class. The choir sing a wide repertoire of songs covering many genres of music, such as musical theatre, pop and liturgical music.
The school choir has previously performed at ‘While Shepherds Watched Concert’ in St. Michael’s church, the Dominican Church and also the Methodist Church in Athy. The choir has also enjoyed performances in the RDS at the Peace Proms Concert. This concert involves over 2,000 children from across the country on stage and they perform alongside the Cross Boarder Orchestra of Ireland.
The children who participate in the school choir benefit greatly. Learning to work together in a group or choir can give children a sense of collectiveness and can help children make friends and develop more positive attitudes towards each other in general. Children can bond with each other and use singing as a means of self-expression.
